How long does 3D printing take?
3D printing typically takes between 8 – 20 hours using an experienced product design consultancy in the UK.
What factors affect how long 3D printing takes?
There are lots of factors that affect the amount of time that 3D printing takes. Here are some of the bigger contributing factors.
Type of 3D printer – some machines and processes are simply faster than others
Size – the larger the product to be printed, the longer it will take to print
Material – some material grades need specific operating temperatures and cycle speeds to bond correctly, so they can take differing times
Height – as parts are built layer by layer, taller parts will naturally take more time to print. The printer has to complete a cycle for each layer meaning a tall, thin part will always take longer than a wide, short part.
